Biggar & District Credit Union is a full service financial institution serving members through three branches: in Biggar, Landis & Perdue. Our credit union proudly remains autonomous, making decisions locally and sharing the fruits of financial success with its members and the communities it serves.

What is the Board of Directors? Expand/Collapse

It is a professional board consisting of 10 members from Biggar and Perdue area. These directors are elected by the credit union members they serve. Their purpose is to provide strategic direction to the management of the credit union.

What does a director do? Expand/Collapse

The directors provide guidance through sharing of experience, skill and their own unique perspective at monthly meetings. They don’t get involved in day-to-day operations - they are more focused on decisions that lead the organization into the future.

Why do we need you? Expand/Collapse

We need you for many reasons:

To continue to provide the products and services our members need and want, and to keep our credit union strong and sustainable, we must have a knowledgeable and committed board of directors.
To best represent the members we serve, it is important to have representation on the board from diverse sectors ie. various ages, occupations, ethnicities.

What is involved? Expand/Collapse

Here's what you're signing up for:

  • Attendance at regular meetings (one/month, held in the evening)

  • Attendance at committee meetings if applicable

  • Training (at your own pace)

  • Attendance at Strategic Planning session (1.5 days annually)

  • Workshops and conferences (optional)

  • Attendance at our Annual Meeting in Biggar and Perdue

Directors receive all-expense-paid training in various ways - online classes, instructor-led workshops, and conferences. Per diems are paid for meetings and training.
