60th Anniversary Celebrations - October 2009

60th Anniversary Celebrations were held at the Biggar Community Hall on October 24, 2009.  A delicious supper was served by Kate Sagon, and a short formal program followed.

The Anniversary Cake was cut by Evelyn and Doug Potter, pictured here with Bill Hammel, General Manager and Dale Martin, Board Chairman.  The Potters are long-time members of the Biggar & District Credit Union, and have both served on the Board of Directors over the years. Doug's first term started in1952!

Ron Peesker was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.  Ron was the General Manager at Biggar & District Credit Union from 1980 - 1996.

Doug Arden, ventriloquist, comedian, and magician entertained the crowd.

Congratulations to Ron Singer  -- he was the lucky winner of the grand prize 32" Flat Screen TV!

Share the Warmth Campaign - Oct - Nov 2009

Our 'Going Green' Committee organized our 1st Annual Share the Warmth Campaign and it was a huge success!

Georgina Heather, representing the Biggar Family Centre, along with Murray Sunderland, 'Going Green' committee member, gathered up 2 truckloads of warm winter clothing to take to the Family Centre.  Thank you to all who donated clothing to keep our community warm!

The Family Centre now has a drop-off box by their door for after-hour clothing donations.  Their address is 102 6th Avenue East (the old Nova Wood School) - please use the east door.
